Per Capita Taxes

All City residents over the age of 18 are required to pay a $10 Per Capita Tax. Per Capita Tax bills for the City, County and School are mailed by August 1 for the current year.


CITY PER CAPITA TAX
City Per Capita Taxes are based on a calendar year from January 1 thru December 31 of the current year. If you pay your bill on or before the discount date in September, you receive a 2% discount. If you pay after the Face Amount due date in November, a 5% penalty is added to your taxes until the end of the year. If the taxes remain unpaid as of January 1 of the following year, they will be turned over to a collection agency. Once turned over to a collection agency there are additional costs due.

COUNTY PER CAPITA TAX
County Per Capita Taxes are based on a calendar year from January 1 thru December 31 of the current year. If you pay your bill on or before the discount date in September, you receive a 3% discount. If you pay after the Face Amount due date in November, a 10% penalty is added to your taxes until the end of the year. If the taxes remain unpaid as of January 1 of the following year, they will be turned over to a collection agency. Once turned over to a collection agency there are additional costs due.

PAYMENT OF TAXES
Taxes may be paid at the City Treasurer's Office, 894 Diamond Park, Meadville, PA.
Payments may be mailed to the City Treasurer's Office, 894 Diamond Park, Meadville, PA 16335.
Checks should be made payable to "City Treasurer."
Discount and penalty are determined by postmark date of payment - not check date.

Act of May 25, 1945, P.L. 1050, No. 394
Section 7. Effect of Failure to Receive Tax Notice.

"Failure to receive tax notice shall not relieve any taxpayer from the payment of any taxes imposed by any taxing district, and such taxpayer shall be charged with his taxes as though he had received notice."
